Cuaderno
What Cuaderno keeps
As little as it can. This page says what.
What is stored
- Your email, to sign you in. A code is sent to it. There is no password.
- What the children call you, a name for your family and a name for your home.
- For each child: a nickname, and the month and year of birth. Nothing else about who the child is.
- The pages done, the day each was done, which grown-up held it and in which home, and how each sound went.
- Where a child started, if it was not at the first page.
- The real jobs you write down, your family's own words, the pages made from your family's day, the notes between the two homes, and what school sent home for English time.
- If the children live in two homes: the day and the hour they change homes, and any week you changed by hand.
- Where your family's Spanish is from, and the time zone your days follow.
- The email of anybody you invite into your family, while the invite is waiting and while they are part of it. A note that an invite went to that address is kept two days more, so nobody can send it too many.
- If a grown-up connects an assistant: that it is connected, who connected it, and a list of what it did.
- A count of the sign-in codes asked for, kept for about a day to stop abuse. The email and the network address are scrambled first, so nobody can read them back.
- The service that signs you in keeps its own record of each sign-in: when it was, the network address, and the kind of browser.
- On your device: one cookie that keeps you signed in, and two that remember your language. Nothing follows you around the web.
What is never asked for
- A child's last name.
- Photos, voice or video.
- The name of a school.
- A street address or a phone number.
- Payment details.
Who can see it
- The grown-ups of your own family, and no other family.
- An assistant that a grown-up of your family connects, until it is disconnected. It sees the whole family's notebook. Every grown-up of the family can see which assistants are connected, on the page Connect your assistant.
- The services that run Cuaderno hold the data to do that job: the database, the hosting, and the email service that sends your code, the invites you send, and the notice that an assistant was connected. Each keeps its own logs for a time.
- It is not sold, and it is not used for advertising.
How to delete it
- The person who started the family opens Family, then Delete this family, and types the family's name. Everything of that family is removed at once, for everyone in it.
- After that, each grown-up can delete their own sign-in from the first screen.
- A grown-up who did not start the family can leave it from Family. The pages they taught stay in the family's record.
- The service that holds the database may keep its own backup copies for some days after that.
- Pages you printed are yours. Cuaderno cannot reach them.
